The Orion IntelliScope database includes a lifetime of celestial objects to view: 837 stars (including double and variable stars), 7,840 NGC objects, 5,386 IC objects, 101 Messier objects, 8 major planets, and 99 user-entered objects. The IntelliScope Computerized Object Locator hand controller features illuminated buttons and a backlit, two-line liquid crystal display (LCD). The intuitive menu buttons allow selection of objects by type (e.g., Planet, Nebula, Cluster, Galaxy) or catalog number (e.g., M57, NGC 253). Press the Tour button to select one of 12 tours of the best objects visible in any given month. Or use the ID button to find out what object you're viewing, if you're not sure. The LCD screen provides information about the objects you see, including object type, common name (if any), magnitude, constellation, and a brief visual description.

PLEASE NOTE: The Orion StarBlast 6 IntelliScope Upgrade Kit is compatible with models #9926 and #10016 StarBlast 6 units only (not compatible with model #9964). If you are unsure if your model StarBlast 6 reflector telescope is compatible with the IntelliScope Upgrade Kit, here are a few helpful hints:

1. Consult the cover page of your StarBlast 6 instruction manual. There will be a model number printed near the top of the manual. If the number is #9964, the StarBlast 6 is unfortunately NOT upgradeable. If the model number is #9926 or #10016, the telescope is upgradeable.
2. Inspect the side panel of the StarBlast 6 wooden base. If the base features a small cutout with a prominent "IntelliScope Computerized Controller Port" label, you have model #9926 or #10016 which is upgradeable. If your StarBlast 6 base does not feature this cutout and label, it is not upgradeable.
3. If your StarBlast 6 included an azimuth encoder assembly in the original box, it is upgradeable model #9926 or #10016. If you did not receive an azimuth encoder assembly with your StarBlast 6, you have model #9964, which is unfortunately not compatible with the IntelliScope Upgrade Kit.
