The Orion StarBlast 6 Astro Reflector Telescope Kit exemplifies the perfect combination of well-rounded performance and convenient portability. Whether you're looking for a versatile introductory instrument to begin a long-term love affair with the heavens; or feel the need for a compact, wide-field, user-friendly reflector telescope, the StarBlast 6 will not disappoint.
It doesn't take a rocket-scientist to appreciate the amazing value of the StarBlast 6 Astro Reflector Kit. Any amateur astronomer will tell you that reflector design telescopes provide the best performance for your investment, or best "bang for your buck". Since the StarBlast 6 doesn't employ the use of a complicated and heavy equatorial mount and tripod, the value looks better and better upon further inspection, much like the view through the telescope's ample 6" aperture.
This kit includes additional accessories that will enhance your viewing experience including:
With locations and names of over 260 features on the Moon such as craters, mountains, valleys, "seas" and more, the included Orion MoonMap 260 is a great tool for beginning astronomers. This detailed map will even show you where various spacecraft have landed on the Moon's surface! The whole family will enjoy looking at the Moon with the telescope, then using the MoonMap 260 to learn the names of the craters and other features observed.
Metal filter cell threads directly into the 1.25" barrel of your telescope eyepiece. Telescope eyepiece filter transmits only 13% of the incoming light, boosting contrast and ability to discern detail on the Moon. Perfectly neutral color will not alter the natural color of the Moon.
Simply dial in the date and time across the top, and Star Target shows you the sky overhead. A perfect accessory and great learning tool for use with your telescope, binocular, or even unaided eyes
A great way to essentially double the number of telescope eyepieces in your collection, without having to buy twice as many eyepieces! Very compact - just 3" long (half the length of a standard Barlow lens). Doublet lens system is multi-coated for excellent transmission and the internal housing is baffled to eliminate unwanted reflections and increase contrast.
Very compact size - can easily fit in a pocket. Will not harm your night vision like a white flashlight can.
Weighing in at a modest 23.5lbs., the assembled StarBlast 6 is portable enough to easily take along on the next family campout or friend-filled road-trip, without wasting valuable space for the rest of your gear. Two handle cutouts in the base allow easy lifting and transporting of the telescope. The StarBlast base arrives pre-assembled in the box so you'll be ready for stargazing adventures right away!
The StarBlast 6 Astro Reflector can be upgraded with an optional StarBlast 6 IntelliScope Upgrade Kit (sold separately) to become a "push-to" telescope with Orion IntelliScope object-location capabilities. Once installed (some assembly required) the optional IntelliScope Upgrade Kit turns the StarBlast 6 into a StarBlast 6i IntelliScope that can lead you on a "push-to" tour of over 14,000 celestial objects!
Limited Warranty against defects in materials or workmanship for one year from date of purchase. This warranty is for the benefit of the original retail purchaser only. For complete warranty details contact us at 800-447-1001.

Beginner Level - Suited for a wide range of uses, these products are simple to operate and set up. Some initial assembly may be required depending on the type of product. Optical instruments with this rating will have very good optical and mechanical quality. Great for families, young people, and folks who don't want to mess with equipment and complexity. Beginning level telescopes will show you countless lunar craters, Saturn's rings and a myriad of star clusters and nebulae! Referring to the manual is recommended.
Intermediate Level - These products offer higher performance and more advanced features than Level 1: Beginner models. They typically take a bit longer to learn and need some set-up or adjustments. But anyone with the slightest technical bent will have no problem getting familiar with these models. Referring to the manual is recommended.
Advanced Level - These products provide the best performance but may require more skill to master and appreciate. Optical instruments with this rating have exceptionally fine optics and mechanics. Some are easy to use but might be on the large or heavy side. Some are intended for specialized uses. These products will appeal to the more technically inclined. Referring to the manual is highly recommended.
For telescopes, the optical diameter (also known as aperture) is the size of a telescope's main light-collecting lens or primary mirror, measured in millimeters or inches. Telescopes with larger optical diameters collect more light, which leads to an increase in brightness and image resolution compared to smaller instruments.
For binoculars, the optical diameter (also known as objective lens diameter) is the size of each of the front-facing objective lenses of a binocular measured in millimeters. Binoculars with larger objective lenses collect more light, which increases image resolution and brightness. Binoculars with larger objective lenses are recommended for low light situations, and binoculars with at least 50mm or larger objective lenses are recommended for pleasing astronomical observations at night.
