This premium 1.25" Barlow lens will give all of your 1.25" telescope eyepieces a power-doubling magnification boost with amazing image quality. The Orion High-Power 1.25" 2x 4-Element Barlow Lens provides superior performance compared to standard Barlow lenses thanks to its deluxe features and 4-element design which minimizes chromatic and spherical aberrations while preserving image sharpness and contrast. As its name implies, the High-Power 2x Barlow doubles the magnifying power of any 1.25" eyepiece, essentially dividing the eyepiece's focal length by a factor of 2. For example: using a 25mm eyepiece in the High-Power 2x Barlow provides the same magnification you'd normally get from a 12.5mm eyepiece (25 ÷ 2 = 12.5). Using this simple formula, you can easily determine how each of your 1.25" telescope eyepieces will perform when inserted in the High-Power 2x 4-Element Barlow Lens. A 20mm ocular will behave like a 10mm eyepiece; a 6mm eyepiece will provide the magnification of a 3mm eyepiece, and so on. Since the Orion High-Power 2x Barlow features a sophisticated, 4-element, fully multi-coated lens design, it will provide better color correction and less distortion than 2- or 3-element Barlows. This means your power-boosted observations will be optimized in regards to sharpness, clarity, and brightness for a great viewing experience. View contrast is maximized thanks to a blackened interior and blackened lens edges which eliminate internal glare and off-axis reflections. The Orion High-Power 2x Barlow can be used with longer focal length eyepieces to obtain a more comfortable view with better eye relief and edge sharpness than a lower focal length eyepiece. In general, lower focal length eyepieces feature a very small eye lens, which can be a hassle to peer or squint through. By using a longer focal length eyepiece in the Orion High-Power 2x Barlow, you'll enjoy twice the magnifying power while maintaining the comfortable eye relief and sharp field edge of the longer focal length ocular. A non-marring brass compression ring inside the High-Power 2x Barlow helps keep any inserted 1.25" eyepiece free of scratches and thumbscrew gouges. A stylish rubber grip exterior provides a sure grip, and the 1.25" barrel features a safety recess to keep the Barlow Lens from falling out of a focuser or diagonal should the retaining thumbscrew become loose during stargazing sessions. The Barlow's 1.25" barrel is conveniently threaded for use with 1.25" Orion filters. Don't compromise your investment in a quality telescope and eyepieces with a lesser Barlow. Step-up to the premium Orion High-Power 1.25" 2x 4-Element Barlow Lens and see the difference! Weighs 7.9 oz.

Beginner Level - Suited for a wide range of uses, these products are simple to operate and set up. Some initial assembly may be required depending on the type of product. Optical instruments with this rating will have very good optical and mechanical quality. Great for families, young people, and folks who don't want to mess with equipment and complexity. Beginning level telescopes will show you countless lunar craters, Saturn's rings and a myriad of star clusters and nebulae! Referring to the manual is recommended.
Intermediate Level - These products offer higher performance and more advanced features than Level 1: Beginner models. They typically take a bit longer to learn and need some set-up or adjustments. But anyone with the slightest technical bent will have no problem getting familiar with these models. Referring to the manual is recommended.
Advanced Level - These products provide the best performance but may require more skill to master and appreciate. Optical instruments with this rating have exceptionally fine optics and mechanics. Some are easy to use but might be on the large or heavy side. Some are intended for specialized uses. These products will appeal to the more technically inclined. Referring to the manual is highly recommended.
Binocular lenses and prisms are often coated with anti-reflective material to minimize light loss as light travels through the multiple optical surfaces of a typical binocular. Coatings help maximize the amount of light transmitted through each glass surface of a binocular, so as much light as possible reaches the observer's eyes to provide a bright and sharp image.
Good lenses are at least "fully coated," with a single layer of magnesium fluoride coating applied to each air-to-glass lens surface. Multiple layers of coatings are even more effective; the term "multi-coated" means one or more air-to-glass lens surface has multiple coatings. "Fully multi-coated" optics are even better, meaning all lens surfaces have multiple layers of anti-reflective coatings applied for maximum light transmission and optimal image quality.
