Most telescopes on an equatorial mount allow you to manually track a celestial object with a slow motion cable, so that it doesn?t drift out of the field of view as the Earth rotates. But the ultimate convenience is equipping the mount to do the tracking automatically. And the Orion Electronic DC Tracking Drive for Observer EQ Mount does just that. Your target object will remain centered in the eyepiece for as long as you want to observe it.

The Electronic DC Tracking Drive for Observer EQ Mount is compatible with select Orion Observer EQ telescopes, namely Observer 90mm EQ Refractor, Observer 114mm EQ Reflector, and Observer 134mm EQ Reflector. (It is not compatible with other Observer EQ telescope models released prior to 2022.)

The drive installs quickly on the right ascension axis of the Observer EQ mount. Its precision motor provides sidereal-rate tracking in right ascension, which is the rate that stars and deep-sky objects move across the sky. The included hand controller has forward and reverse slewing buttons at 2x and 4x speeds to facilitate centering objects in the telescope's eyepiece or moving to other, nearby objects. A spring-tensioned "clutch" lever disengages the tracking motor from the right ascension gear whenever you want to use the mount's manual slow-motion controls.

A switch on the hand controller lets you set the drive for Northern or Southern hemisphere; it works in both. The Electronic DC Tracking Drive for Observer EQ Mount runs on four 1.5V D-cell batteries (not included), which the user installs in the battery case provided.

Experience the convenience of hands-free, electronic object tracking while you observe with your Orion Observer EQ telescope. Get the Orion Electronic DC Tracking Drive for Observer EQ Mount today.
