  • A "white-light" filter for viewing the photosphere of the sun -- sun spots and surface 'granulation'
  • Manufactured in the USA

Meade's Glass White-Light Solar Filters are the perfect accessory to use your telescope to view the Sun in a safe way! Available in different sizes for each telescope aperture. Designed for viewing and imaging the sun in the visible 'white-light' spectrum which shows the photosphere in detail. Sunspots are easily visible, as is surface granulation, especially surrounding the sunspots themselves. Watch over several weeks as the sun rotates and the sunspots slowly morph in size and shape each day as they rotate across surface.

The glass is installed in an aluminum housing, and the reflective helios solar glass filter blocks 99.999% of incoming light for protection. ISO certified, guaranteeing safety with correct use. Easy attachment with three screws (included).

Meade assures that all solar filters are tested at specialized labs that are accredited to verify compliance with the ISO 12312-2 safety specifications for solar viewing.

Manufactured in the USA.

Warning: Meade White-Light Solar Filters are only intended for closed tube telescopes and should not be used with open truss designs such as the Meade 10, 12 and 16"" LightBridge Dobsonians. Incident sunlight allowed in by the open tube design could cause damage to the telescope optics and on these designs will cause instant and irreversible eye damage potentially including permanent blindness. A light shroud is not sufficient protection from harmful solar rays.
