I have a 6 yeard old son, he loves to look out the window when its raining with my small binoculars mounted to the Zhumell tri-pod. His imagination coupled with the tri-pod & binos take him places that only you & I can dream of. I also use the tri-pod with my binos for a finder type scope when star gazing with my Newtonian telescope, 10x50 binoculars work great for locating star points. Also, its great for taking long exposures at the night sky, you would be blown away at what your camera will reveal in the heavens above that your nakes eye will never see.

I bought this to use with 8X56 binoculars. Works great for that, but I mostly use it as a stable platform for my digital camera.
