Q1: What objects can be viewed through this scope?
A: You'll get nice views of the Moon, of course. You'll also see Mars' polar caps in close oppositions, Venus, Jupiter's belts and four largest moons and be able to resolve Saturn's rings. You'll also be able to reach out to about Magnitude 11.2, which will bring in the light from about 1.8 million stars.
Q2: What is the difference between the Meade DS-2080LNT and the ETX-80ATC-TC? In your opinion which is the better scope for space and land viewing? Do both require the Erecting Prism for land/terrestrial viewing?
A: The difference between the two scopes is chiefly one of focal length. The DS-2080 has a focal length of 800mm, whereas the ETX-80 has a 400mm focal length. That means the ETX is "faster," but will give less magnification with a given eyepiece. For visual observation, the DS scope probably is marginally better, but for astrophotography, the ETX has the edge because of its smaller f/ratio. Both scopes require an erecting prism for land viewing.
Q3: I own a MEADE DS 2102 Without LNT Technology. My question is If I can adapt that device to mi scope, and if it is available with you to purchase. Thanks for your advice.
A: Unfortunately, Meade has not made LNT technology available for purchase separately.
Q4: How good is the terrestrial veiwing on this telescope?
A: Terrestrial viewing will be very good with the Meade DS-2080LNT Refractor Telescope. It will give you image brightness comparable to that of a good 80mm spotting scope, but you'll get much more magnification, depending on choice of eyepiece.
Q5: Hi i would like to know if " Meade DS-2080LNT Refractor Telescope with LNT AutoAlign Technology" Also has AUX control for connection to a computer software ?
A: Sure does! You want to purchase the Meade #506 AstroFinder Software and Cable Connector Kit. This kit is designed for the DS series Meade telescopes.
