Comments about Alpen 20-60x80 Angled Body Waterproof Spotting Scope Kit:
I am a birder, and I wanted a nice scope, waterproof, with good optics and magnification, and easy focusing. This scope was given excellent reviews as a mid-price-range product. It provides excellent viewing at 20x-40x and was very good even at 60x, albeit a bit harder to see clearly due to tripod shake at the highest magnification. The 80mm glass provides lots of light, and I was easily able to identify shorebirds at long distances, with only very slight color aberration (at the highest magnification only) depending on the lighting angle. The birds were very crisp and field markings stood out well. I have used a much higher end scope but could not justify that high cost for my personal usage. This scope is a GREAT compromise, and I don't feel like I gave up any capability with this purchase. I just feel like I got a great scope!

Comments about Alpen 20-60x80 Angled Body Waterproof Spotting Scope Kit:
Great deal for the price. It compares well with spotting scopes that are 2x the price. The only minor complaint is that the included tripod is a bit weak. The second complaint is that it is made in China. I didn't want to spend $1,100 on a Leupold so I can live with both of these issues.

Comments about Alpen 20-60x80 Angled Body Waterproof Spotting Scope Kit:
I've had my scope for a short time and already I'm very happy with the purchase. I checked other brands of the same size and magnification and for the price this is obviously the best. If you want to view anything up close this is the scope. I purchased a Zhumell large universal digi-scope adapter to mount my digital camera on the scope and it works great. I use a Platinum Plus tripod with quick release mount from Sunpak that I've had for years. I can't imagine it gets any easier than this. I can hardly wait for nicer weather so I can enjoy using it more.
Comments about Alpen 20-60x80 Angled Body Waterproof Spotting Scope Kit:
I use the Alpen 20 to 60 Power scope for a range spotting scope. It is great for zeroing in new rifle or pistol scopes. While it does not have the resolution of a Ziess or high end scope, it also cost about 1/5th as much. I can still see 1/4" holes out to 200 yards especially in the orange or splatter targets. With standard 25 yard pistol targets w/5 1/2" Black Zones set out to 50 yards I can still score them without even having to enter downrange.
