Description

The Brunton MacroScope 7x40 Close Focus Monocular is the only optic of its kind, bringing to life details you would ordinarily never be able to see. Zoom in tight for a close-up view from just 18 inches away and follow your subject to infinity with the turn of the focus wheel. This model features 40mm objective lens diameter, 7x magnification, and BaK-4 prism glass with full Emerald Fire multi-coating. The twist-up eye relief system is eyeglass-compatible, and the large focus wheel makes one-handed use a breeze. Crafted from durable polymer, the frame possesses ergonomic body armor and is both tripod- and monopod-compatible. The MacroScope comes complete with carrying case and is backed by a one-year manufacturer's warranty.

Like many of Brunton's products, this monocular's uses are limited only by your imagination and resourcefulness. For instance, Macroscope is helping crime scene investigators extract details right at the sight of a crime. It's also allowing museum visitors to view from afar without damaging historic items. Naturalists have found this monocular ideal for viewing butterflies and dragonflies. It also boasts a large following from within the scientific world, as dedicated entomologists discover new species of insects. What will you use it for?

Easy to focus - unlike binoculars this is comfortable for use by people that wear eyeglasses or experience a tremble in their hand.

Comments about Brunton MacroScope 7x40 Close Focus Monocular:

I wanted full size optical performance in something that would fit in my camera bag. It's goos on both counts.

The eye relief is very generous. Even with sunglasses over my regular glasses I get nearly a full view. Very comfortable viewing with glasses.

The sharpness and clarity is surprisingly good.
It comes close to some of my very expensive binocs. For the money it's amazing.

Because of the huge focal range the focus is a little touchy but it's OK. Just requires a little more care. The large knob helps.

The close focus can be a lot of fun for looking at spiders etc. at close range. The end is threaded like a camera lens so I think you could add the right size close up lens and focus even closer... like a low power microscope.

Anyhow, this is a very nice optic for the money.

Comments about Brunton MacroScope 7x40 Close Focus Monocular:

I need an attachnet to screw into the tripod to hang arround my neck. The storage case should have small clips sewed on the sides to attatch another adjustable strap to carry over my neck or shoulder.

Comments about Brunton MacroScope 7x40 Close Focus Monocular:

The optics are made in Japan and then sealed into the macroscope framing within a nitrogen atmosphere. It has a good storage range from freezing to heating at 110 F. It also has a real nice storage case that is easy to open.

Comments about Brunton MacroScope 7x40 Close Focus Monocular:

This monocular achieves the goal of making things that are far away look bigger, and it has excellent image quality so it is easy to examine the details of whatever object you are looking at. The focus dial can bring out the detail in an object whether it is two feet or a hundred feet away from you. The monocular can be used whether you are wearing glasses (in my case sunglasses) or using your naked eye - the extending eyepiece gives you that perfect circle instead of the weird oval.

I intend to use the monocular for fishing for trout in New Zealand. I am certain that it will make spotting the fish and what they are feeding on a lot easier and much more stealthy. The only drawback to the monocular is that it is bigger and heavier than I imagined, and it's not going to fit very well into my vest. I would like a neckband for it so that I could carry it around like a pair of binoculars. The upshot to the weight is that it seems very sturdy (though I haven't dropped them to find out!). Overall I have found this macroscope to be of excellent quality and I am glad that I didn't go with a cheaper option.

Comments about Brunton MacroScope 7x40 Close Focus Monocular:

I have failing eyesight due to diabetes. I use the scope at my grandson's lacrosse games. With the adjustable eye relief, I can see the full field of view while wearing glasses. The close focus allows me to see price labels without having to crawl on the floor when I go to a store

            from Undisclosed

Comments about Brunton MacroScope 7x40 Close Focus Monocular:

This monocular has very high-quality optics, providing a clear view and very sharp focus in both close-up and long-range applications. I really like the tripod mount, easy-focus system and especially, the high quality of engineering and assembly. My son really enjoys using it on my camera tripod to check out all the creepy crawlies in our garden (especially spiders!), and I find it very handy as a regular long-range-viewing monocular. Highly recommended!

Comments about Brunton MacroScope 7x40 Close Focus Monocular:

Did not review this product since my wife makes me wrap my presents and put them under tree. With very little use time, it is just the type of product that appeals to me. I'm pretty sick of reading tech. instructions on how to use. The macrascope is self explanatory and I was able to use within minutes. It gives the magnification that I need and seems to be put together well.
