I'm using it for wilderness sea kayaking. Like other kayakers noted - ideal combination of magnification, lens size and compactness. You DON'T need magnification higher than 6 in a kayak bobbing up and down in waves, and you can't use huge 5 lbs binocular either. I keep it in the old cosmetic pouch in my deck bag, it is attached to the pouch with a short lanyard, so I can get it in and out single-handedly. My only complaint is that it doesn't have slide-on lens caps like on some binoculars. I've attached its lens caps to the monocular body with short lanyards (making holes with upholstery needle in the side of the cap), so they won't get lost.

    Good Quality; not for nature

Great to have the larger objective lens size; but value of this feature diminished by relatively low magnification (6x).

8x magnification and a closer minimum focussing distance would enhance this product enormously.

Comments about Brunton Eterna 6x30 Monocular:

I am a serious sea kayaker and have frequent opportunities to view all sorts of waterfowl, seals, etc. but I have a vision problem that previously limited this aspect of my sport. The Brunton has just the right combination of power, field of view, brightness and one handed convenience to solve the problem. Plus it enhances safety when crossing channels, etc. The small size and waterproof feature allows me to perform the Eskimo roll with the monocular in my PFD pocket. I love it.

Comments about Brunton Eterna 6x30 Monocular:

Very handy and compact. Very useful for bow hunting, target bow practice, nature trip, helpful for compass targeting too and quick checkings.

I had old Tasco monicular (which I did'nt use because it was dark and out of focus)and I doubted this one would be better. I was wrong, this Brunton is at lightyears from said Tasco. It is clear and crisp as I like but I would not recommand it for long time watching ( for example: birding long periods etc.) better use a good pair of binoculars like Bushnell Custom Compact or Swarovski EL series.

            Customer Q & A

Q1: What is the shipping fee for having this Brunton 6X30 monocular sent to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada?

A: Since we don't know your address or postal code, we can't give an exact figure. You can determine it for yourself, however. Just place one of the monoculars in a shopping cart on our web site and proceed to checkout. Then enter your country and postal code, and you'll see shipping options and prices before you have to make any payment.

Q2: Would this monocular be too powerful for watching professional sporting events? Or should I go with a cheaper one with less brightness, a smaller field of view, and a smaller exit pupil? Is there a noticeable difference between a monocular with an exit

A: The Brunton 6x30 monocular would be a very good choice for watching sporting events, providing you'd not like to use binoculars. The Brunton has a good, wide, 341-foot field of view, which makes it easy to follow action on the field. You'll also get nice, bright views and good low-light performance out of the 30mm aperture. That's the main advantage of a 5mm exit pupil, good low-light performance.
