These were purchased for my nephews, who are 3 and 6 years old. I was going to buy toy binoculars, but these were no more expensive. When they arrived, I was pleasantly surprised at their quality and they were almost too nice to give to a kid--these are real binoculars, not a toy or flimsy construction. I wished I'd ordered an extra pair for myself as a spare. The kids loved them and their dad will probably be using them as well.

For so few bucks, you can't expect the world. So don't. As another reviewer said, they're better than toys (much better, actually). But they don't offer a sharp, high-contrast view. The minuscule fold-down eye-cups won't stay down. If they did, you'd scratch your glasses on the hard lens-mount. With them up, you can't see the whole field with glasses on. With glasses off, eye position is a bit tricky to avoid black-out. Once you have your field in view, it's just not very sharp or contrasty. They're light and small, but the image is so poor that you may not bother.

Comments about Bushnell 8x21mm Powerview Compact Binocular:
For the price, this is a great product. It is so handy for slipping into your pocket wherever you go. I'm going to use it on a European trip to look at the beautiful architecture of cathedrals, views from towers and hills, and other surprises in unusual settings. They are not as powerful as bigger models but quickly and easily available when you want them.

Comments about Bushnell 8x21mm Powerview Compact Binocular:
I must admit I'm probably not a good person to be rating binoculars in general, since I've had very little experience w/ using them. I got these to be able to get a better look at some of the backyard critters where I live....groundhogs, squirrels, birds, etc. They are certainly nice and compact, but not that easy for me to focus and seem to go "cloudy" at times when I'm moving around looking thru them. But maybe you have to pay a lot more to get a really good set of binoculars.
It asks if I would recommend these to a friend and I marked "no" because I do have some reservations, but if they'd had a "maybe" choice, I would have marked that. :-)
p.s. I was pleased w/ the promptness of my order's arrival. :-)

I have owned these binoculars for over 10 years and love them. I use them for the opera and plays. People have commented that they work better than their opera glasses. I also take them when I travel. A great buy for the money.

My wife and I wanted something that would enhance our travel experiences. With the many restrictions on luggage we wanted something small and lightweight but also of sound quality and function. This product is a great fit for what we need and affordable.

Comments about Bushnell 8x21mm Powerview Compact Binocular:
These are really good for the casual user. I find that 8X is optimal for long-term usage. The binos are great, but I wish they had a bit more weight to them. They're not flimsy, just much lighter than I'm used to. Quality is very good.

Q1: Please clarify the meaning the the 8 x 21 numbers in the Bushnell 8 x 21 Powerview Black Compact binocular. Thank you
A: The numbers should be read like this 8x 21 the 8x means looking through the binocular you will see everything at 8 times the naked eye. the 21 is the width in millimeters of the front lens.
Q2: I lost the soft case for these binoculars (Bushnell 8X21) that I bought from you recently. Any chance that a replacement is available for purchase?
A: Unfortunately, we don't stock spare cases. However, you should be able to get a replacement directly from Bushnell. Here's the toll-free number so you can make arrangements: 800-423-3537.
