Q1: What is the difference in binoculars that are 8-24x25 and binoculars that are 12x25? Thanks!
A: The 8-24x25 is a zoom binocular, so it has a variable magnification 8 times the naked eye up through 24 times the naked eye. The 12x25 is a fixed magnification, always 12 times the naked eye.
Q2: IF 12 ON A 12X25 IS 12 TIMES THE NECKED EYE WHAT does the 25 mean ?
A: the number after the X means the diameter in millimeters of the objective lenses(not eyepieces)the bigger the number the larger the binocular, and the more light the binocular will gather.
Q3: Would this be a good pair for an Alaskan cruise - or is there something else that you would recommend?
A: this is a great pairt for a cruise. the zoom capability allows you to zoom in on specific things up to 24 times the naked eye. This makes it very useful when looking at things from a cruise ship.
Q4: Is the Travelite tripod adaptable? Which tripod would you recommend? Are binoculars affected by heat say if left in a parked car?
A: The Travelite Compact Zoom is not tripod-adaptable, unfortunately. To get a tripod mount you pretty much need to get into a full-size binocular. Binoculars should do fine if left in the car. However, it would be well to keep them in the glove box, rather than on the dash or the rear ledge, where they get direct sunlight.
Q5: what is a good power for viewing a football game when you are in the nose bleed seats....lol 8x24...10x35...what?
A: We'd suggest 8x42, wide-angle binoculars. The Zhumell 8x42 WA is a case in point. It has nice optics, a rugged, rubber-armored case and a field of view you'll have to see to believe. It makes following plays easy work. Here's the URL; just paste it into your browser's address window: http://binoculars.com/products/zhumell-long-eye-relief-8x42wa-7960.html.
