Description

The Celestron Oceana 7x50 w/Compass & Rangefinder Scale features a completely waterproof design for at-sea use. Dry nitrogen-charged and O-ring sealed to prevent internal fogging as well as external, these binoculars remain unaffected by climate, temperature, and weather changes. An easy-grip surface and attached objective lens cap ensure steady and easy use. As precise as they are sturdy, these individual-focus binoculars specialize in quick permanent focuses. They also have a horizontal and vertical etched reticle to help determine relative size of objects. A range-finding dial calculates actual object distance or size.  Illuminated reticle uses Union Carbide #389 (or equivalent) - 2 required - Included with binocular.

I was looking for an inexpensive back-up binocular and bought these. The optics are quite good and they are comfortable to hold. Lots of features and appear to be well made. However, it is difficult to see the compass clearly so am not sure how usable it will be. Also the eye piece is a hard plastic/rubber material so it is not comfortable when pulled tight to your eye. Overall while not outstanding, an overall good value.

Great features for the price, as long as you don't actually get them wet. I purchased one pair, and found moisture from spray getting into the compass housing. The exchange pair from Celestron worked for about a year before starting to leak. The compass mounting design seems to be fundamentally flawed, as the other barrel never leaked.

Best Binocular in this price range! Very bright, very good quality and very well made!
Check from the 50mm lens. Has some very small black plastic thing in both tubes. But can't see those thing when I use this binocalar to watching anything.
It's a 4 1/2 rating binocular. I will be buy more in the future.

Comments about Celestron Oceana 7x50 w/compass & rangefinder scale:

I bought these binoculars for sailing (waterproof, compass, range finder) a couple of weeks ago, but so far have only used them for wildlife and scenery viewing on a trip to Alaska. As my first binoculars in a long time, the optics are outstanding. The compass is easily viewable. The range finder is in the center of the right view which will be nice for sailing, but may irritate someone using these for general use. Fold down eye cups were nice for using them with glasses. When I loaned them to our hiking guides for wildlife viewing they were impressed with the optical quality. The binoculars tolerated light spray without a problem.
