Comments about Barska 7x50mm Deep Sea Waterproof Marine Binocular with Internal Rangefinder and Digital Directional Compass:

these are very clear, easy to ajust, and feel good in my hand's. I am pleasantly supprised, these are close in quality as a pair of binocular's I reacently looked at at the Fort Lauderdale boat show that cost 700 dollars more. One problem, you should include the two batteries (LR-43) I have been looking for 3 day,s and have not found them!!! therefor I can not comment on the digital compass.

We tested the compass with a standard handheld that I know works and was never within 20 degrees. We would point at a single azimuth towards the top of a hill and same azimuth towards the bottom of the hill and the compass would vary by 100 degrees. The compass function is useless.

Comments about Barska 7x50mm Deep Sea Waterproof Marine Binocular with Internal Rangefinder and Digital Directional Compass:

These are of a poor quality. I received these with the batteries already installed however the cover was not screwed in correctly, the threads were therefore stripped and the digital compass didn't work. After numerous tries I still couldn't get it to work so I sent it back and bought the Tasco Offshore 36 for a few $ more--lighter, smaller and much better quality! Don't get these!

Had to send it back. The Digital compass did not work. The instructions were worse than expected. They did not explain where to insert the battery or how to use the rangefinder. The lens appeared good however.

Good buy, they need to refine the image however. Not quite sharp enough as compared to higher end binoculars. The provided float strap is too small, wouldn't trust it. Better quality control needed at the manufacturing plant with regard to spot on lense.

Comments about Barska 7x50mm Deep Sea Waterproof Marine Binocular with Internal Rangefinder and Digital Directional Compass:

The binoculars came with a generic "how to use your new binoculars" for a pair of plain glasses. There's no warranty card or instructions to use the range finder or vernier scales to calculate distance. The cap that holds and seals the batteries was cross threaded when I received it. It also doesn't seal the battery compartment, so these binoculars are not waterproof or even resistant. When I e-mailed Binoculars.com about the missing documentation, they told me to write Barska for it. This isn't the kind of customer service that engenders loyalty. Even at the modest price, I didn't get my money's worth.

Merchant Response: Binoculars.com does not receive manuals other than those boxed with products. Customers can obtain product manuals faster by emailing Barska directly at info@barska.com or by calling Barska toll-free at 1-888-666-6769.

Comments about Barska 7x50mm Deep Sea Waterproof Marine Binocular with Internal Rangefinder and Digital Directional Compass:

I use the product when I search for "kelp paddies" when fishing, The optics are bright and clear and the compass is accurate. The rangefinder takes a little getting used to, but it's easy when you go and try it. The product is durable as I am not easy on equipment, I fish hard and the binnoculars are up for the task

                Great Binocs, Poor Documentation

Comments about Barska 7x50mm Deep Sea Waterproof Marine Binocular with Internal Rangefinder and Digital Directional Compass:

Binocs work great. They're solid, hefty, shows clear image, etc. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is the poor documentation. The owner's manual looks like a generic brochure that could be used for any set of binoculars. It makes no mention on how to use the rangefinder & compass. Actually, if it wasn't for the previous review on this site, I wouldn't have a clue on what it was. If someone can forward a web link that can explain it in layman's terms, that'd be great.

                Great binoculars!

                By Craig Ueltzen

                from Undisclosed

Comments about Barska 7x50mm Deep Sea Waterproof Marine Binocular with Internal Rangefinder and Digital Directional Compass:

Received my new binocs today. I'll say one thing... you KNOW you have a pair of binocs in your hand! They weight 2.5 lbs. and are about 10" long. They aren't made for back packing! These are serious binoculars!

They're rubber coated in bright blue and black. The neck strap is bright yellow and padded in segments like a life jacket. The lens coating does look blue.

The compass isn't analog like the photos in the website pages show, it is digital. There's a compass rose with flashing cardinal points on one side, digital degree digits on the other. You know where you're pointed by the flashing rose arrow. The compass is in the left 'scope at the bottom.

The right scope has an upside down T reticule with numbers reaching out to 4 on the bottom, (4 in each direction from center, totalling 8) and 7 heading up the scale. There's a slide-rule ring on the objective lens barrel. You measure an object with the reticule, then dial it up on the slide-rule for distance up to 5,000 feet. It's easy to see a big garbage can up the street, dial in the 4.5 that it is high, the read 225 feet away on the scale. You have to estimate the objects size, but thats easy enough. The garbage cans around here are about 4.5 feet tall.

With both eyes open, the scales and compass are overlaid on your vision like a HUD in an airplane. The images are razor sharp and bright, even in the dark. I tried 'em out the front door a few times as the sunlight faded. Even now, I can see cars down the dark street that I can't see without them. The 50mm objectives do suck up the light.

I dragged out every pair of 'nocs I own to compare to them. Grandpa's 40 year old Sears 7x50's are the same specs, but theres a massive difference in image quality between the two. His old 7x50s almost look like they're smeared with Vasoline inside after looking thru the Barskas.
