Just got these binoculars and loved them straight away, they felt great to hold, sleek construction with nice weight and quality feel about them. They are very easy to focus, even my wife who wears glasses found them easy to focus. I was a bit unsure about the individual focusing lense but once you have them focused you don't really have to touch them again unless you want to close right in on something a few feet away. They felt sturdy and the lense caps aren't going to get lost in a hurry as they are firmly attached by the frame or by the yellow flotation neck strap. The lenses are fantastic, I did a lot of research on Fujinon comparing them to other brands and they are as the reviews indicated-excellent quality, no distorition or annoying refraction. One very minor downside is the compass, you won't be navigating by this compass, it's not very sensitive to changes in direction but it's ok if you want a general idea about the magnetic direction the glasses are pointing in. Apart from this I can't think of anything I don't like about them and would highly recommed them even for bird watching which is why I bought them.

Comments about Fujinon 7x50mm Mariner WPC-XL Individual Focus Marine Binoculars w/Compass:

I use them when we are cruising around the lake or sitting beside it. The are brite and clear with nothing negative to say about the construction. Although I did have to bend the battery contact over a bit to get the light to work. I can't see any use for the range finder at this time. I thought it would bother me to look at it but when your using them, your eyes don't focus on it unless you want to. I wear glasses, and this is the first pair I've used that I dont have to take my glasses off to use. They are big and bulky, but you can't make good 7X50s small, otherwise I'm sure they would! They are A high quality set! Love them!

Comments about Fujinon 7x50mm Mariner WPC-XL Individual Focus Marine Binoculars w/Compass:

The binoculars are very well constructed and I am very happy with the optics. The compass was very clear and was stable. I could see a half degree in movement very easily in the compass.

The thing I did not like was the strap that held the lens covers. They are too stiff and would allow the lens cover to find its way back on the lens when hanging around your neck. This can be disconcerting when you pick it up and can't see anything. It can be dangerous when in the San Francisco harbor and need to find an approaching freighter at 1 o'clock in the morning while in the fog.

Also the external lighting for the compass is not bright enough. On a bright day while under a bimini the compass does not show up without using the built in light.

            Customer Q & A

Q1: Does this have the compass in the viewing window

A: Yes this one has the internal compass that you view through the eyepieces.

Q2: 7x50FMTRC-SX What is the difference in use for this one?

A: The main difference in use is the FMTRC-SX is a military binocular with individual focus for the eyepieces. While the 7x50 mariner is a standard marine binocular, center focus non mil spec etc...

Q3: I received the WPC-XL binoculars for Christmas. Unfortunately they came with no instruction book. I would like to buy an instruction book if one is available. Is this possible? Thank you, Dave Taylor

A: You should be able to obtain paperwork for your Fujinon 7x50 Mariner Binoculars by contacting Fujinon directly. Here's the toll-free number: 800-872-0196.
