Description

Vortex Diamondback 8x42 Binocular

Superior quality, high-performance hunting optics can find their way around your neck for a surprisingly affordable price. The smooth focusing 8x42 Diamondback binocular takes you to the fine details you prize. Taking its lead from the Diamondback rattlesnake, this rugged binocular is striking in how well it detects life in low light. Huge field-of-view—the largest in its class—enhanced fully multi-coated optics, phase-corrected prisms, waterproof/fogproof construction, soft tapered eycups, rugged rubber armor. It's all there. Now you can use "wow!" and "thank you" in the same sentence.

  • Phase corrected prisms (increasing light transmission by 7%) deliver sharp, greatly contrasted images.
  • BaK-4 prisms provide sharp images from one edge of the broad viewing field to the other.
  • Fully multi-coated optics increase light transmission for higher image quality in all lighting conditions-enhanced for 2009.
A rock-solid performer

Whether your adventure takes you across rocky, sand-carved terrain, or into the high timber of the Rockies, you can trust the rock-solid performance of the Diamondback binocular. The Diamondback's protective rubber coating gives you a sure grip that is easy to handle, even as fingers grow numb in the cold. In addition, the retractable Diamondback eyecups feature a soft, tapered style for a more natural fit at your eye—cushioned with rubber for years of relaxed viewing.

  • Complete waterproof protection keeps dust and water out of the optical system with tight O-ring seals.
  • Complete fogproofing of internal lenses with argon-purged optics presents clear views in spite of sudden temperature changes.
  • Diamond checker pattern in protective rubber armor provides a solid-grip surface.

Argon gas purging

This advanced process protects your Diamondback binocular in the following ways:

  • Argon gas does not absorb or react chemically with water.
  • Argon gas eliminates internal fogging.
  • Argon gas maintains its protective properties over a wider temperature range.
  • Argon gas does not diffuse as quickly as other elements, extending the service life of the optics longer.

Comments about Vortex 8x42mm Diamondback Binoculars:

If you are doing hours of hunting to find the best bang for your buck like I did, you may have just bagged your quarry with this binocular. Besides the close focus, wide field of view, and rugged build, I love how clear the view is. They let lots of light through, and the wide field of view makes is so much easier to find in the binoculars what it was that you caught a glimpse of with you eyes alone. And the close focus of 4.5 feet makes it easy to really study the birds on my backyard feeder. They boast several features that other brands only make available on their models that are a lot more expensive. I could not find the same quality for the same money anywhere else. I am very pleased.

Comments about Vortex 8x42mm Diamondback Binoculars:

Wanted a good pair of bins to take on my cruise. Wanted waterproof and wide field of view for sight seeing. Wanted smaller size to pack easily. Sales person recommended Vortex and it was on sale. Very good value for price. This was my first roof bino. It is clear and has a nice field of view. Nice case comes with it. They are as advertised. Appear to be sturdy. Happy so far.

EXCELLENT FOR BIRD WATCHING.LETS PLENTY OF LIGHT IN FOR CLEAR AND DETAILED VIEWING. ATTATCHED COVERS LET ONE CONCENTRATE ON VIEWING WITHOUT WASTING VALUABLE TIME PUTTING COVERS AWAY.

Comments about Vortex 8x42mm Diamondback Binoculars:

Enhanced light sensitivity make these better than my E.O. 8x42 Denalis. To really compare the low light differences, I compared these two binoculars at night, looking at stars, clouds, distant city lights, and the halo around the moon. These Diamondbacks are noticeably better in low light (e.g. clearer faint clouds), so either the glass and/or coatings are better. I also noticed in interior lighting that their color rendition is cleaner (less yellowish) than the Denali's.

The very close focus (4.5 ft. vs. 7 on the Denali's) and the really wide field of view (420 vs 408) make this an excellent value and a true upgrade. Love the rounded eye cups. But Vortex really needs to create tighter lens covers for both ends to protect them better; they are too loose.
