I bought a pair of Steiner Safari 8 x 22 binoculars for my wife 7 years ago. They served her well on our trips to the Everglades, Yellowstone, Virgin Islands, as well as numerous local adventures. I recently purchased a pair of Safari Pro 8 x 22 binoculars (much improved version of my wife's binoculars) to send to my brother for his 60th birthday celebration. He thinks that it is a "great gift." My brother lives in Nevada so the UVA and UVB protection of the Steiner binoculars is essential. The design and construction make them good binoculars for hiking. The case is well designed for getting the binoculars out in a hurry without the threat of dropping the binoculars. Close focus is excellent as well as clarity of the lens. As with all compact binoculars; they do not perform as well as full sized binoculars in low light conditions and hand shake is somewhat more pronounced. The Steiner compact binoculars minimize both problems well through superior lens coatings and by frame design. A clicking diopter would have gotten the product a five star rating. As usual, Binoculars.com had the right product at the best price.

High quality at low price. Amount of details in poor light condition at least the same as with out the binoculars, which was a nice surprice. I was expecting to see much less details in poor light due to the size (8x22).

These were very easy to focus and use -- for myself and a 12 year old grandson -- on a recent wildlife trip to southern Africa. Having these binoculars really enhanced our wildlife experiences -- I bought a pair for each of us.
