About Leupold

From humble immigrant beginnings, Leupold grew, based on a promise of quality, to become a classic American company. In 1907, Fred Leupold set up a one-man shop at 5th and Oak streets in Portland, Ore., to repair surveying equipment. He was joined by his brother-in-law, Adam Voelpel, and later by inventor John Cyprian Stevens, and the foundations for a century of success were in place.

During Leupold's second half-century, the company has focused heavily on the sports optics business. Leupold's presence in the hunting and shooting market expands, and finally dominates, with innovative optics and features that are now legendary among hunters, shooters, and outdoors enthusiasts. Many of the industry's standards - nitrogen waterproofing, the Duplex® reticle, and more - are Leupold creations.

              Customer Q & A

Q1: What is the difference between roof prism and porro prism?

A: The difference between porro and roof prism binoculars is the internal construction. A pair of roof prism binoculars is made with one prism located in the middle of the 2 optical tubes. A pair of porro prism binoculars has 2 separate prisms located in each of the optical tubes. The noticeable difference will be that porro prism binoculars are typically a bit larger, and wider.

Q2: What is the size and weight of Cascade Camo?

              A: The Cascade's are 5.5H x 5.2W inches and 22oz.

Q3: Are the Leupold 10x42 Cascade Binos rubber armored?

A: Yes, the Leupold Camo 10x42 Cascades Binoculars are rubber armored.

Q4: What does the 10x42 mean?

A: The 10x is the magnification, so it will magnify the object you are observing 10x larger than it would be with your naked eye.  The 42 means that the objective lens is 42mm in diameter.  The larger this measurement is, the more light it can bring in. The more light the binoculars bring in, the brighter the image will be in a lower light situation.

Q5: Do the Leupold 10x42 Cascades come with a case of any kind?

A: They come with a neckstrap, as well as a case.
