Because the performance of an optic does not end with image quality, Leupold now offers the BX-3 Mojave binoculars. Weighing in at just 23 ounces and providing premium performance in an easy-to-handle format, the well balanced, open-hinge body design makes them comfortable and easy to hold, even during periods of prolonged viewing. Fully multi-coated lenses are combined with L-Coated BAK4 prisms to provide excellent photopic transmission for a very bright image under all lighting conditions. The addition of phase coating to the prisms virtually eliminates any residual diffraction, to ensure the image is not only bright, but breathtakingly crisp.
Accurate color reproduction is accomplished through the use of silver enhanced, cold-mirror-coatings on the prisms - showing subtleties of shade and intensity easily. Long eye relief makes them easy to use by those with, or without eyeglasses, and a short close-focus distance makes them an excellent choice for naturalists. Armored, waterproof, and nitrogen filled, Leupold BX-3 Mojave binoculars are well protected against all field conditions and feature the Leupold Limited Lifetime Warranty. I will be using this product on an Elk hunting trip but also it will be used at sporting events.

The BX-3 8X42 are comparable to my Zeiss Victory FL 10X32. They are as sharp and have as much contrast. They are brighter in low light of course (42 mm vs. 32 mm objective lenses). The color fidelity is the same as the Zeiss meaning perfect.
The difference in money is in the Zeiss they focus faster and the feel is like butter.
The Zeiss have water and oil repellant lens coatings. The Zeiss case and strap is of much better quality. The Zeiss eye lens rain guard cover has a strap attachment on both sides. The Zeiss eye rising eye cups hold position (click stops) much better.
The BX-3 rain guard is attached to the strap only on the left side. These may be nit picks because in the factor most important - the image - the BX-3 is great. The best part is the value. Very very close to Zeiss quality images at alot less money!
Highly recommended.
