Optical Features

HD Lens Elements HD (High Density) extra-low dispersion glass delivers impressive resolution and color fidelity, resulting in High Definition images.


XR Lens Coatings Vortex proprietary XR anti-reflective coatings, fully multi-coated on all air-to-glass lens surfaces, increase light transmission for maximum brightness.


Phase Correction Used on roof prism models only—coating enhances resolution and contrast.

          I have owned this pair of Vortex Vipers binoculars for almost a year now and I am continually impressed with the crisp image quality and the vibrant contrast, especially when nature viewing.

          This binocular uses ED glass, which is an absolute must for all high end binoculars. It's also made in Japan.

          Vortex also provided me with an excellent warranty. I broke mine by knocking them off my desk and bending the metal eye-cup (they fell onto a hard floor) and I sent them into Vortex and they fixed them within a week without charge.

          I own almost a dozen binoculars and use them for both nature viewing and astronomical viewing and this is by far my favorite binocular.

            Excellent clarity and focusing. Good in low light conditions. Compares well with much more expensive binoculars I've used for work as a wildlife biologist. Not as light as I hoped. I don't notice a lot of difference from other binoculars that don't have "HD" so I'm not sure that's worth the extra. They seem sturdy but that's where the true test will be, how they hold up to lots of use.
