Vortex 10x42 Viper Binoculars

I had never heard of this brand until the associate at [...] suggested taking a look at the Vortex Vipers. They are in the same price range as the Merlins and the mid level Leupolds. I looked at the high level Bushnells, Nikons and all the others in the $600 range and lower. These were better than all. I agree with most others who say this as well, "you are getting a $1000-$1500 pair of binos for 1/2 to 1/3 of the price". Are they as good as the Swarovski, Leica, or High end Zeiss? NO, are they comparable for a lot less money? YES

Used this binocular for deer hunting. At dusk and dawn this binocular preformed exceptionally well. Superb optics and brightness in this vortex viper 10x42 binocular. This binocular ranks right up there with swarovski, leica,and several other top brands at 1/4 the cost.I'm still amazed at its preformance.

I looked at a lot of different manufacturers to narrow the options. I wanted a high quality optic, light, rugged, and good low light capability. In the final analysis, the Vortex Viper 10x42 had it all. It was also important to have quality attached objective lens covers, rainguard, neck strap and case. To many manufactures cheap out on these points. They are important assets with regular use and rough conditions. The warranty is also one of the best, and I like to support american family owned companies. Anyway, I am very pleased with my purchase and the quality of these optics. Highly recommended.

I recently acquired the Vortex Viper 10x42 binoculars. At first I was struck by the wonderful packaging and the carrying case. It came with an awesome strap and carrying case strap.

Now, about the optics. The images on this thing are super bright. Very clear and sharp. Easy to focus.

This binocular beats the Nikon Monarch hands down!

There is very slight distortion at the very very edge of the image, but that's it. You probably need to upgrade to the Vortex Razor to get rid of that. But other than that this binocular is amazing. Made in Japan. Easy to hold. Lightweight. Best Warranty in the business. Amazing.

Was able to see (in approaching dusk), individual sheep in a herd, and the sheep herder walking around, at 4 miles away. The lighting was under heavy dark clouds, about an hour before full sundown. 40 minutes later all was gone visually.
My old 7x50, could not resolve the individual sheep, and the herd was just a blurr. I used a hand held stick platform to steady the 10 power.
