Pentax 8x43 DCF SP

 


Hybrid aspherical lens elements for edge-to-edge sharpness in any lighting condition. Scratch-resistant coating on exposed lens elements. Fully waterproof and fog-proof, nitrogen-filled, submersible to 1 meter. Helicoid 4 stop eyepiece ring for comfortable eye relief. Phase-coated roof-prisms for a sharper view. Lightweight magnesium frame. Fully multi-coated lenses for increased light transmission. Inner-focus optical design. Protected by a limited lifetime warranty.

 


The DCF SP series binoculars feature high-resolution optics encased in a magnesium-alloy body with IS Class 6 waterproof construction. These high-performance models are perfect for a wide variety of applications, such as close-up viewing and use in less-than-ideal weather conditions.

 


The Features

  • The DCF SP series is also available in 10x43, 10x50 and 12.5x50 magnifications.
  • The DCF SP models are housed in a nitrogen-filled magnesium-alloy waterproof body (JIS Class 6) and protected with a full-body rubber housing.
  • These binoculars deliver exceptional image quality and close focusing with edge-to-edge sharpness.
  • Interpupillary adjustment range from 59mm to 76mm.
  • This quality and sharpness is a result of inner-focus optical design incorporating hybrid aspherical eyepiece lenses, high-resolution phase-coated roof prisms, scratch-resistant hydrophobic coating on exposed objective and eyepiece lenses and multi-coated optical elements.
  • Long eye relief and lightweight design provide fatigue-free viewing, even during extended observations.
  • The DCF SP series come equipped with user-friendly features such as extra-short minimum focusing distance, diopter adjuster with lock mechanism and four-stop helicoid-type eyepiece rings.

    I did a lot of research before buying the Pentax 8x43 DCF SPs. The goal was to find a pair of waterproof binoculars that offer excellent glass, solid construction, smooth operation, relatively light weight, and a good warranty without breaking the bank. These measure up on all counts. I doubt that it's possible to do better at this price point. The only negative is the neck strap which has no padding. Not a big issue because several padded straps and harnesses are available for under $20.

    Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

    It took me some time to be persuaded that I should spend over $400 on a pair of binoculars when common sense said �300 should be a sensible maximum. How pleased I am to have chosen the Pentax SPs. They are superb with crystal clear definition and meet my every requirement. As a colleague remarked, could I afford to waste money on an inferior product. He was right, for me I would have been wasting money

    Although I haven't used the binoculars for it's intended purpose, hunting, mostly in foul weather and in low light situations I am very pleased with the feel and optical clarity of these binoculars! I consider them much superior to my previous Nikons, by brother's current ATB binoculars, and the few name brands that I tested for optical quality prior to my purchase. I am also pleased with the quality of service Binoculars.com has given. Great combination!
