    I purchased this Pentax set as a gift for an elderly aunt who wanted high-quality binoculars that fit her eyes easily and required minimal adjusting. With these binoculars she can watch birds as they move from tree to tree without losing sight of them. The fact that she can focus clearly on both the closer and more distant birds has proven to be a real treat, and the brightness and clarity of the magnified images allows her to see details that her age-related lack of acuity would otherwise prevent.

      Optics are reasonably good. I wanted it for basketball games and not for a large stadium. These are lightweight and very portable.The neck strap is rinky-dink but, all in all, a good product for the money.

            Our old pair same style purchased about 15 years ago were stolen. I had thought we would upgrade and did a bunch of research. Decided to buy these again and I am really glad we did. They are even better--very crisp and sharp, easy to use and carry around. Only issue I have is the single lens focus--very easy to pop out and get out of adjustment.

                Q1: What is the relative brightness of the Pentax UCFX II 8x25. How does this binocular rate dollar for dollar versus the competition? Thanks

                A: These are a suprisingly bright binocular for their size. The exit pupil 9diameter of light through the eyepiece into your eye) is 3mm in diameter but the binocular uses fully multi-coated optics improving light transmission for high contrast images. it also uses BaK4 prisms that transmit more light at the edges to enhance illumination in low light situations. But of course no matter what the larger the objective lens size the brighter the image.

                Q2: How many turns of the focal mechanism does it take to go from minimum close focus to infinity? I only ask because the previous version of these bincolurs (UCF X) took nearly three full turns. I am looking for something that will focus a little faster than that.

                A: these are still pretty high around 2-2.5 turns they are designed this way to allow you to fine tune your focus for closer objects

                Q3: I have nikon 8x25 travelite V model and I cannot focus on infinity without my glasses because it would take just a bit of a turn of the focusing mechanism more for that. My pentax 20x60 WP II on the other hand are OK for me.Will theese binoculars be li

                A: Pentax 8x25 UCF X II compact binoculars have 15mm of eye relief, which is enough to allow most eyeglass wearers to use them with their glasses on. However, someone with thick lenses or a longer distance from eye to lens might need to remove his or her glasses.
