Description

Pentax 6.5x21 Papilio

Need to get up really close in a hurry? You can. The PENTAX Papilio 6.5x21 binoculars incorporate a new mechanism that can offer a minimum focusing distance of just 18 inches. That's waaay shorter than the 6.5 feet offered by other PENTAX models currently on the market.

The 6.5x21 is part of an optics series called Papilio, the Latin word for butterfly, because it was specifically developed to satisfy the need for close-range observation of butterflies and other insects.
All members of the series feature go-anywhere portability, making them ideal for spectator sports, travel and hiking.

Note: This item is not intended for use by children under 12 years of age.

Got what I wanted at a fair price and quickly. Satisfied. Focus is easy.. I'm a novice with these, intend to use them for art work, but they seem to be exactly what I wanted. So what's not to like.

Comments about Pentax 6.5x21mm Papilio Binoculars:

These binoculars are a real treat. With a close focus of 18 inches the world at your feet opens to a real adventure. No need to leave the backyard or flower garden. Watching insects and flowers is awe inspiring. The optics are crystal clear, they are lightweight and easy to handle with a very smooth focus. And they are very nice for general observation and birdwatching. I own many and more expensive binoculars but right now I have to say these are my favorites. I cannot recommend them enough. These are truly amazing binoculars for the price.

I have owned binoculars that were less expensive but could never quite get things in focus. I decided to spend a little bit more for a quality pair. They are lightweight, easy to adjust, and provide a nice, sharp focus.

Comments about Pentax 6.5x21mm Papilio Binoculars:

STUNNING, ABSOLUTLEY STUNNING!! EXQUISITE DETAIL ON A DRAGONFLY'S EYES/LENSES AND WINGS; FLOWER STAMENS, PISTILS, POLLEN AND PETALS! [Bear the positive rant of a science nerd.]These Pailios have a wow factor of 10+! You feel your in a theater watching a High Definition nature film but better, because you're experiencing the moment--LIVE! The 6.5 let's you catch, with precision, damselflies, bees, etc., stationary or in midflight as they hover around you; be it 18 inches or more! They're also great for bird/nature watching and stargazing. Some might complain of the loss of depth as you get closer, but I think the opposite is true as the narrow focus let's you see the intricacies of the object at hand. The ease of the focus wheel and the Paplio's wide angle helps you scan over your subject without losing sight of it. *On a cautionary note,I hike and bike everywhere and you may have to treat these binoculars gingerly as my 1st pair came loose inside the barrels/cylinders. However my 2nd pair have withstood my active lifestyle--so far. [...] I bought these for my personal use, but I ordered a couple more as I'm hoping to interest kids at my school in Nature/Science. These Papilios are the perfect way to reel 'em in and keep them interested. And the price---unbelievably low for their amazing quality, now if they were only waterproof..."DOUBLE RAINBOW OMG!!"[see video online]. I can't stop talking about the 6.5 Papilios. THEY ARE INCREDIBLE! But I've gotta stop----gotta eat.

            Customer Q & A

Q1: Where can I find a bipod or tripod for the Papilio? Thanks, Mike

A: The Papilio has a standard threading size for tripod mounting. Any of the tripods we carry would work for these binoculars. All you will need for mounting these is an L adapter. L adapters are a universal size. This adapter will thread into the binoculars and then thread to the top of any tripod mount for easy and comfortable observing.
