The Pentax DCF NV 10x36 binoculars offer the perfect combination of a semi-compact design with bright optics ideal for all around use.  With high resolution, phase-coated and super-reflective coated roof prisms that provide high contrast images, the DCF NV models feature fully multi-coated lenses to increase light transmission and color quality.  The 10x36 DCF NV offers a fiber reinforced polycarbonate design that makes this binocular extremely lightweight and durable.  The rubber covered exterior of the DCF NC models provides a sure grip and protects the internal mechanisms, and the inner-focus optical design adds to the durability.

    Comments about Pentax 10x36mm DCF NV Binoculars:

    One of my prime optics, despite its lack of really close focus(9-10feet). Phase-coating makes for sharp images with clean colors.... except for one problem. Sharp edged objects(branches, poles, building edges) against the bright sky display slight color lining the objects. Really thought phase coating would control that better, but other binoculars I have with phase coating also have the problem.

    For its 36mm objective lenses, I'd want an optic a bit lighter if I still hiked long distances. I'm confident the Pentax would still function if it got banged around, so it might still have its place for a long distance backpacker.

    The material construction is excellent, tho you would be disappointed in the binocular looks & feel if the Pentax was a big ticket item. The barrels should be easier to hold, without any fear of slippage. The Pentax is basic black, the only other colors being gold colored lettered 'Pentax' on one barrel & the focusing knob end with optics size, FOV & dull-silver cheap diopter plastic on the right & left eyepieces. Actually, the view through the binoculars & its easy functioning is so good, I think Pentax had to downplay the Nv's so more people would still be interested in up-scale Pentax's. ha ha ha
