Description

Clamber over rocky terrain and splash through shallow streams with the Leupold® 12x 50mm Olympic™ Binoculars in black finish. These binoculars are not only small and lightweight, but they are also tough, waterproof, and wilderness-ready. Well-designed and built solid, they are 100 percent waterproof in any condition, with bright, sharp sight pictures.

In rough terrain or on extended hunts, size and weight are a concern - but you also don't want to miss a trophy because of optics that are not up to the task. These Leupold Olympic binoculars solve both problems. They offer a crisp, bright sight picture, twist-up eyecups, and long eye relief. They feature a rain shed, rugged construction, and shock-absorbing rubber armor.

These phase-coated, roof-prism, center-focus binoculars also feature multi-coated lenses for brightness and clarity, and the ergonomically designed body fits well in any size of hands. Black finish. Limited lifetime warranty.

From humble immigrant beginnings, Leupold grew, based on a promise of quality, to become a classic American company. In 1907, Fred Leupold set up a one-man shop at 5th and Oak streets in Portland, Ore., to repair surveying equipment. He was joined by his brother-in-law, Adam Voelpel, and later by inventor John Cyprian Stevens, and the foundations for a century of success were in place.

During Leupold's second half-century, the company has focused heavily on the sports optics business. Leupold's presence in the hunting and shooting market expands, and finally dominates, with innovative optics and features that are now legendary among hunters, shooters, and outdoors enthusiasts. Many of the industry's standards - nitrogen waterproofing, the Duplex® reticle, and more - are Leupold creations.

Comments about Leupold 12x50mm Olympic Binoculars:

Used for viewing wildlife, hunting and just scoping nature. For the power they are compact, easy to use and great focus. I compared them to other binoculars that were 3 & 4 times the cost at the local sports store. These binoculars were just as good if not better in some ways.

Comments about Leupold 12x50mm Olympic Binoculars:

I own a smaller, compact pair of binoculars that I use when traveling by airline. I wanted something bigger, brighter, with higher magnification for my rural home (surrounded by wildlife) as well as car/camping trips. I shopped around and found that the Leupold binoculars seemed to have a slightly brighter image than some competitors, a selling point for my middle-age eyes. The price was competitive, [...] and the binoculars are all that I expected. Because of the higher-than-average magnification, they require a steady hand. I most often look for a way to brace my hands or arms against a solid object when using them. Yes, I'd buy them again.

Comments about Leupold 12x50mm Olympic Binoculars:

I bought these bino's for purely recreational use. I live on the top floor of an apartment complex and I'm lucky enough to have an unrestricted view of the water and all taht goes on at Old Tampa Bay.

I used my brother's Bushnell's at 10X40 and was disappointed with the resolution and magnification I needed to see the porpoise, egrets, eagles and fisherman having fun.

I only use these as a hobby; in comparison to an investment, and opted for these in comparison to models that are 5 to 7 times the price.

The glasses satisfied ALL my needs !!! The resolution is crisp, clear and still wonderful at low light conditions. They also focus extremely well within the spec'd out distance.

These respond as I expected. I read it might be a little diificult to hold the bino's steady if I went beyond the 10X realm; it is true. However, if you brace your arms on your chest or use the arms of a chair for stabililation, that problem is alleviated.

I'm glad I went up in magnification to these glasses. I get the enhanced resolution I was looking for.

I'd recommend them to a buddy anytime.

          Customer Q & A

Q1: I am currently getting ready for the hunting season. I have never owned a pair of binoculars but know I can trust Leupold. (I use only Leupold scopes on my rifles) I would like to know what would suit (magnification wise) a hunter best? 12x50 or 10x42? and why?

A: The most common hunting binocular is a 10x42 which is good for most forms of hunting. The 12x50 would be good if you hunt at a long range for the most part.
