Description

Switching is easy. Leupold® Golden Ring® 10/17x 42mm Switch/Power™ Binoculars offer the kind of performance you expect, plus unique features you won't find in any other binocular. It's like having two binoculars in one. Switch/Power technology features an easy-to-use switch near the focus dial that allows you to instantly and fully change the magnification. This is not zoom; you go from 10x to 17x smoothly and instantly.

These binoculars are not only small and lightweight, but they are also tough, waterproof, fog-proof, and wilderness-ready. Well-designed and built solid, they present bright, sharp sight pictures. Leupold's signature brown armor coating ensures that the binoculars will withstand even the most rugged conditions.

With phase-coated roof prisms and Leupold's exclusive Index Matched Lens System - each lens coating is matched specifically to the type of glass and the lens placement in the binocular - the binoculars offer a standard of brightness, clarity, and color fidelity like you have never seen before. Full lifetime guarantee.

From humble immigrant beginnings, Leupold grew, based on a promise of quality, to become a classic American company. In 1907, Fred Leupold set up a one-man shop at 5th and Oak streets in Portland, Ore., to repair surveying equipment. He was joined by his brother-in-law, Adam Voelpel, and later by inventor John Cyprian Stevens, and the foundations for a century of success were in place.

During Leupold's second half-century, the company has focused heavily on the sports optics business. Leupold's presence in the hunting and shooting market expands, and finally dominates, with innovative optics and features that are now legendary among hunters, shooters, and outdoors enthusiasts. Many of the industry's standards - nitrogen waterproofing, the Duplex® reticle, and more - are Leupold creations.

Comments about Leupold 10/17x42 Golden Ring Switch Power Binoculars:

These binoculars are powerful enough for hand held use from my living room on Mason Lake. The ability of this product to let in extra light allows for much improved viewing. The switch power is handy for my wife to use as she has trouble holding any binocular still and likes the lower power option.

Comments about Leupold 10/17x42 Golden Ring Switch Power Binoculars:

I would have thought that the 17-power switch would be hard to hold steady but I haven't had a problem yet. The ten power is great when trying to find birds in a tree, than you switch to 17 power and you know exactly what it is.

Comments about Leupold 10/17x42 Golden Ring Switch Power Binoculars:

I bought these binoculars for birding. They are compact and light and well-designed, and the "Switch Power" lever is easy to use, though it would be better if it "clicked" into position instead of just sliding. The optics at 17x are not nearly as good as my Leica Duovid 10/15x50's, and the Leupolds also have a considerably narrower field of view, requiring a much steadier hand than the Leicas at both 10x and 17x. The Leicas are also a lot easier to focus. So I will use the Leupolds when I am hiking because of their compactness and lightness, but will use the Leicas when I am doing some serious birding. At less than half the price of the Leicas, the Leupolds are a bargain.
