Product Highlights

Features

Phase Coating on the Roof Prism

The prism has phase correction coating and a highly reflective aluminum coating to ensure sharp images and accurate color reproduction. Through the use of a Bak4 prism Kowa is able to give you bright, clear images all the way to the edge of the objective lens.

Fully Multi-Coated Optics
All lenses and prisms are manufactured with multilayered coating, ensuring a bright and clear visual range.

Waterproof and Nitrogen Purged
The housing is waterproof and filled with dry nitrogen gas to prevent the lens from fogging. The binoculars can be used in the rain and other harsh weather conditions. (Not intended for underwater use)

Minimum Focusing Distance of 6 feet
With a minimum focusing distance of only 6 feet, this binocular can be used for many purposes.

Easy to Use Twist-Up Eyecup
All of the BD Series binoculars have twist-up eyecups suitable for both eyeglass wearers and non-eyeglass wearers.

Inner Focusing Mechanism
Easy focusing and a smooth turning focus wheel. Through the use of an inner focusing mechanism, the light, compact design of the BD Series binoculars was made possible.

C3 Coating
Kowa's roof prism binoculars use the schmidt-Pechan prism. One surface of the Pechan prism does not provide total reflection, so we have applied a highly reflective multi-coating of dielectrics (C3 Coating). This allows for a much higher reflectivity than with coatings of silver or optically-enhanced aluminum, offering a reflectance of 99% or higher across the entire visible spectrum (400 to 700mm). Not only does this provide bright and sharp images, but accurate color reproduction is also achieved. Furthermore, the roof surface of the Schmidt prism is phase coated (phase correction coated) to prevent the loss of contrast and image resolution.

Comments about Kowa 8x42 BD42 Binoculars:

This company does not avertise enough. I own 4 pair of binoculares some, close to 1000 price range. These hold there own with any I own. The smoothess of the focus could be no better. Anyone looking for a mid priced pair of binoculars can't go wrong with these. Never heard of this product until I seen it on the internet. Glad I did.

    Kowa BD10X32

    By William Powell

Comments about Kowa 8x42 BD42 Binoculars:

I usually am a review reader not writer But I felt these binoculars were worthy of me dropping a few lines ! Being a "Pack-in" Hunter (most week-ends) I was looking for a compact/Hi quality binocular that will do well in low light conditions. Price was no object but it was ! I want the best "Bang for my buck" that I can get !! I Started off with a pair of Steiner 10X25 predators'. While not bad pair of Noc's they are nothing to write home about either. Next I tried a pair of 10X25 Swarovski's . A vastly better pair of noc's than the Steiner's (Low light and over all) still the light gathering ability wasn't there for dusk and dawn viewing. Now I know that 25mm objective lens is not best suited for low light but, I had to go to the top end and try them... Having counter tried about every top end noc's out there and searched birding forums hunting forums ect. ect. I ran across these Kowa's quite by chance . Having used a Kowa spotting scope a few years back and loved it . I thought if they make binoculars as good as there spotting scopes these baby's will be the ticket !! I tried to put my hands on them locally to try them out but could not find a pair. So the order was on ! I am so glad I did these Kowa's will hold there own with ANY 10X32's made !! Let alone there 1/3 the price of some !! Bright, clear ,very wide viewing angle. Small and light . What more could a hunter ask for !! 5 stars from me... William Powell

    Excellent value

Comments about Kowa 8x42 BD42 Binoculars:

Although I have not conducted side-by-side tests with other, high dollar binoculars, the Kowa 8x42's are surely on par in optical clarity. Image sharpness is consistent across the entire field of view, and color rendition is as good as can be asked for. The twist-out eyecups are simple, sturdy, and a welcome addition to binoculars in this price range.

I have but two small complaints--small enough not to detract from the five-star rating: 1., The lens covers are not very well designed, and would be more helpful if attached to the binocular body. 2., The Kowa strap has a tendency to slip loose--a problem that should easily be engineered away.

Given the option of this glass versus, say, Swarovskis, I would readily choose the Kowas again...and apply the remaining $1,000 to either a good scope or other equipment.
