Q1: Would the "UpClose 10-30x50 Zoom" be appropriate for amateur bird watching?
A: This is an excellent scope for more general use. i would suggest something more along the lines of an 8x40 as it will have a more stable image and offer a wider field of view.
Q2: Does this binolcular use BAK-4 prisms?
A: They use a BAK-7 in these.
Q3: Are these binoculars of good enough quality for hunting purposes?
A: They will be OK for hunting But for that purpose specifically I suggest getting a fixed power as it will be etter optically, something like the bushnell H2O 10x42's
Q4: are these binoculars compact?
A: No, these are actually a full size binocular. The easiest way to tell if it is a compact binocular is the number after the X (10-30x50) is the diameter of the objective lens 28 or smaller is considered a compact.
Q5: are celestron binos 10-30+50 BAK 4 OR bk 7 optics tell me
A: Celestron's 10-30x50 UpClose ZOOM binoculars have BK-7 prisms.
Q6: just wanted to know how much these binoculars weigh. I have osteo-arthritis, do not have a lot of money so this item is in my price range.
A: Weight is 29 ounces.
Q7: I need to beable to read numbers from about 1-2 miles. Will these work?
A: The UpClose 10-30x50 Zoom Binoculars at max magnification will make objects appear as though they are only 1/30th as far away as they actually are. Hence, at 2 miles' distance, your view would be as though it were only from 352 feet away. If you can read the numbers you need to at that distance with the unaided eye, then the UpClose binoculars will work just fine. If not, you'll have to increase magnification. At 200X magnification, you'll be able to see house numbers as though they were only about 50 feet away. But that magnification level requires a high-power spotting scope like the Meade ETX-125. It has great, Maksutov-Cassegrain optics, the same as the ETX celestial telescopes do. And it comes with three eyepieces offering a range of magnification levels up to nearly 200X. Q8: I do not see a physical size spec on the web site. How big are these binoculars (Celestron UpClose 10-30x50 Zoom). Thanks.
A: Celestron UpClose 10-30x50 Zoom binoculars measure 7.5 x 7.5 x 2.5 inches with lens covers installed.
Q9: please explain 10-30x is it 10 through 30 or 10 or 30. and is 14mm enough eye relief for a person with glasses
A: Hi Darin,
Yes - "10-30" means that the magnification can be changed anywhere at and between 10x and 30x magnification. 14mm is definitely a good number for eyeglasses. I recommend a 13mm or higher.
Best Regards,
