Nikon is world-renowned for producing top-quality optics, and Nikon Action 8x40mm, ultra-wide-view binoculars carry on that proud tradition.
For hunters and nature-watchers, Action 8x40mm ultra-wide-view binoculars are nothing short of ideal! Large exit pupils translate into bright images at dawn and dusk when game is moving. Multi-coated, aspherical lenses and BaK-4 prisms give you bright, high-resolution images under all conditions.
Full 8X magnification will bring you closer to the action, too. With Nikon Action 8x40 ultra-wides, you'll be able to see whole kettles of hawks close up, or separate branches from antlers and get that rare shot at a trophy!
These binoculars are excellent for birding - here's why.
These binoculars are great for birding and nature viewing because of their large field of view. When selecting a pair of binoculars for birding, its good to stick with 8x power binoculars. 8x magnification power binoculars are preferred because of the balance between magnification and field of view. As a rule, you always decrease your field of view when you increase your magnification. And more magnification always results in a extra "image shake". Birders want binoculars that have a nice balance between seeing a specimen close, and seeing it without too much image shake. The more your binoculars magnify, the more the image you see bounces around when hand holding. These binoculars feature a 40mm objective lens and when combined with its 8 power magnification, this balance is achieved making them excellent for birding watching.
These binoculars are also excellent for viewing sporting events - here's why.
For most sporting events an 8 power or 10 power magnification is selected. You will get a little extra magnification when choosing a 10x power model, however in an 8x power binocular you are still magnified greatly on your subject, but get to see a wider field of view. In sporting events like football for example, you want to see the play develop. Seeing both the offense and defense in the same field of view without panning the binocular around to find the action. If you're stuck in the nose-bleed section, then you may want to consider a more powerful binocular in a 10x model. But for general sporting events this Nikon binocular is an excellent choice.
The Nikon Action 8x40 binoculars include a soft case, objective lens covers, eyepiece covers and a neck strap.

If you are looking for superb binoculars with crisp, clear viewing and easy to focus, This pair is for you. It is comfortable to use by someone with or without eyeglasses.
It is worthy of the brand name NIKON. There are a lot of 8X40 binoculars out there. One can try to save money on a cheaper pair but will it be as good ? Most will not. This is an excellent example of "You get what you pay for..."
The only possible downside for some people is that it is not a compact pair. It is full size. But to me, a quality full size pair of binoculars can seldom be equaled in performance by a compact pair.

Good product for general, low intensity
I bought the binoculars for novice-level birdwatching. The magnification level was not as goo as I had hoped. My hope is to trade up to a better model.

Q1: I need a binocular that I can use with my glasses?
A: The measurement that you will have to take into consideration when using a binocular without taking off your glasses is called Eye Relief. If it is 15mm or greater than you do not need to remove your glasses when using the binocular.
Q2: I am looking for a pair of binoculars that would be used for hiking and short excursions.
A: I would recommend getting the Nikon Action Extreme 8x40 as it is a fully waterproof, fogproof, shockproof binocular.
Q3: Is there an accommodation for affixing these to a tripod? If not, please provide manufacturer name, model number, etc. for binoculars so equipped. Use would be indoors - a sun room overlooking a long, long lake.
A: Yes, there is actually a tripod adapter available for this binocular that is sold separately.
Q4: What type and power would be recommended for sporting and concert events for up close viewing?
A: An 8x40 or 8x42mm binocular is a good, general-purpose viewing instrument that will work well for the uses you describe. The 8X magnification is not so great that it's difficult to hold images steady. And a 40 or 42mm aperture is large enough to give good image brightness and a wide field of view. If you're going to be outdoors, you might like to choose binoculars that are rubber-armored and waterproof, as well as fog-proof.
Q5: What is the weight of the 8 x 40 Action Ultra-Wide-View compared with the 7 x 35 Action Ultra-Wide?
A: The 8x40 weigh in at 26.3 ounces, while the 7x35 tip the scales at 25.2 ounces.
