    I use my 8X12 Leica duovids almost every day for nature/birdwatching. Since I purchased these wonderfull bino's I hardly use my other Leica bino's The 8X12 power feature makes these bino's good for warbler watching in the bush at 8X or looking at ocean birds at 12X with just a simple adjustment. They still have the Leica crystal clear image at the 12 power magnification.

    Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

      The best binos I have ever had. I love the dual magnification feature. Nice clear images in the lens. Just a joy to use. My 4th pair of Leica Binos. The 8X12 duavids are erganomically superior to any of my other Leicas.

        I'm a true believer in "You get what you pay for" and this is an excellent example of that. Now I really really had to do a lot of thinking before I paid [$]for a pair of Binocs and I actually sold two other pairs (Swarovski ELs and Leica Compact 8x20s) to get these. And it was worth it! Where ever I go I absolutely must be able to see as far away as I can and view as much detail as I can. Its just the way I am, and I have had all of the top names in Binocs but these are the best I have owned. Set the Binocs on 8X and quickly scan an area then for greater detail zoom in with the 12X. I have read reviews that say changing from one power to the other is difficult but it is smooth as silk, you just have to change both sides separately but who cares it probably makes them less complicated and there for lighter and more reliable. They are very well built and the optics are beyond compare.

        Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

        Sensational resolution but on the heavy side. The strap does make it more comfortable but still not for casual birders trekking in the fields. Eye cups are comfortable and the attached eyepice covers are very convenient.

        A: The numbers listed before the X are the magnifications. With this binocular you have two magnificationa with which you can view either 8x or 12x
