I used a friend's Swarovski binoculars and decided that the science had gone way beyond my 35-year old Nikon 9X35's and went online to buy a pair. But when I discovered that they cost $2000+ I looked for an alternative.
These 10X42 ED Zhumell's are my answer: great viewing at an affordable price.
The diopter focusing ring is great. The near focus is amazing. You can focus on your feet.
I take them with me on dog walks and any outside excursion.

Great optics but poor construction of both diopters (eye pieces). There are only 3 settings and after you adjust the diopters, they are loose and flimsy. Don't buy these cheaply made binocs! Pay a little more for a good brand name like Pentax or Nikon.

Comments about Zhumell 10x42mm Nova ED BAK4 Roof Prism Binoculars:

Purchased theses from this website months ago and they arrived in excellent condition. Optics are very goo... Bright image, nicely coated ED optics and focusing is easy. Great for birding and used for astronomy viewing also. Very good lens caps and case. Clear, sharp, contrasty and nice color. Well worth the price.

Great binoculars. The heave duty storage box was crushed but fortunately the binocs were OK. Would have been nice to have the box for long term storage.

Comments about Zhumell 10x42mm Nova ED BAK4 Roof Prism Binoculars:

We have a couple of pair of ten year old Steiner binoculars, and a five year old pair of Simmons Master Series, and I thought they couldn't be topped. They have been. These Nova ED 10x42 binoculars beat any pair of binoculars I've ever looked through, for sharpness of image, lack of distortion on the edges of the field, they are wide angle, waterproof, light for their size, have a magnesium frame, and when you look through these it's just amazing how close you seem to whatever you are looking at, and how natural and lifelike the colors are. The price on these was $91, and they came in four business days, in a good, heavy box with a nice case and a pair of straps, and have a twenty five year warranty.

These binoculars seem very well made, and I like the right side diopter adjustment in the middle in front of the focus wheel.

You can focus these really close, and yet easily focus on something hundreds of yards away. If I could change one thing about them, I'd add tethers to the front (objective) lens caps, but this is trifling. They have good snap in "camera type" lens cover on the front and a tethered to the strap flexible lens cover on the rear.

I wear eyeglasses, and these work perfectly for me with my glasses on. They have twist up eye cups if you don't wear glasses.

I'm not a binocular expert, but I looked through these and the three other really good binoculars we own and these are just better in every way you'd want to measure better.

Better buy yourself a pair before Zumhell wises up and raises the price.
