These are a great pair of binoculars but not without a few drawbacks. The 25x magnification is awesome for slewing the sky and acclimating yourself to the distant universe above. The FOV is unmatched by anything else in the price range and you can even spot some DSO's with these behemoths. On the negative side, the heavy duty tripod is definetly "maxed out" with the weight of the binos and the result is an unsteady view with alot of jitters. Also, no matter how much I try to adjust the focus, I get kidney beaning on my views of planets. Those would be the only negatives on what otherwise is a great set of binoculars that I will use for years to come. I can see Jupiter and its 4 biggest moons pretty clearly and the Orion Nebula is easy to view. It only took a few weeks with these binos to have given me a thirst for nice dobsonian telescope to accompany the binos. I was thinking of returning them to get a credit to apply to the purchase of a Z8 dob but I can't give them up because they are just too convenient an item for quick views. I am new to astronomy and they have made it so easy to learn the skies above with the help of some skymap software. All in all, these are money well spent.

I'm a first tiime buyer, and would reccomend the Binocular's, but I would stay away from the Tripod that was sold with this package. The legs are very weak for this Binocular set. The mounting bracket has a very cheap metal ring on the mounting screw. I bent it with my hands, as I applied enough presure to stop it from swinging. The adjustment knobs are very tight also, and need strong hands to use them. Maybe the Tripod is good enough for a Camera???

Comments about Zhumell Tachyon 25x100mm Astronomy Binoculars with Tripod Package:
I took the advice of others and upgraded to the higher cost Zhumell tripod. For the price, I'm very impressed. First light was with the Beehive Cluster. There is something magnificent about observing with both eyes; it stimulates the brain in an amazing way. The cluster filled the entire FOV and I was truly mesmerized for several minutes. Others noted the absence of a crank to raise the binoculars vertically. After some thought, I realized that this would add extra bulk and cost to this tripod. One must have a good grip and some strength in the forarms to adjust, but I have no problems. This is not for the casual observer. Same with no central focus, for astronomy with such a large binocular, individual adjustment is better. To get them to fully balance does position them to somewhat limit the minimum interpupilary distance, but, my big head was no issue there. A solid package for a good price.

Comments about Zhumell Tachyon 25x100mm Astronomy Binoculars with Tripod Package:
Quality found in binoculars costing several times more! I use them only for offshore whale watching in Hawaii. The sturdy and stable tripod was a real bonus. I listed heavy as a "con" but for my purpose it's actually a plus since I'm usually focused a mile or more away and require the binoculars to be perfectly still.

Product was well packaged and shipping was ahead of schedule. I would have liked more detailed instructions for both the binos and the tripod. Everything went together well without incident. Looking forward to a clear night to begin observing the planets.

Q1: Which long distance binoculars would you recommend for freighter watching on the great lakes?
A: The Zhumell Tachyon 25x100 Astronomy Binoculars would work very well for looking at freighters. A very large aperture binocular with stronger magnification on a very sturdy tripod will give you a clean bright image.
Q2: What is the interpupillary distance for these binoculars?
A: The interpupillary distance of the Zhumell Tachyon 25x100 Astronomy Binoculars is 76mm
