Description

Zhumell 20x80 Astronomical Binocular Package Package includes:

High power, low weight!

Other high-power binoculars may have excellent optics, but they can also be, quite literally, a pain in the neck. The Zhumell 20x80 SuperGiants, though, weigh in at just 4.4 pounds, light enough to use comfortably in the field. Still, they are equipped with an integrated tripod mount for use with any standard photographic tripod. That's just in case you don't feel like holding onto your binoculars all the time.

High-Performance Features

  • Extra-large field of view with crystal clarity from edge to edge
  • BaK4 prisms for excellent light transmission
  • Fully multi-coated optics
  • Ultra-smooth center focus that's easy to operate, allowing you to pinpoint your subject
  • Right diopter adjustment so you can fine-tune your viewing

Most impressive, though, is the sheer size of the 20x80 SuperGiants. The 80mm objective lens diameter is huge. In fact, you won't find many larger, and definitely not in the Zhumell's price range. Interpupillary distance adjusts from 60mm.

Once you try these big binoculars for astronomical or terrestrial viewing, you won't want to go back to anything smaller. And, given all the Zhumell's advantages, there's simply no reason you'd have to

Zhumell Professional Tripod

  • Includes quick-release mounting plate
  • Rubber feet with retractable spikes to enhance stability outdoors
  • Circular level to provide an even base from which to shoot
  • Weight rating of 8.5 lbs. to handle heavy cameras/binoculars
  • With the Zhumell Professional Tripod and a favorite camera, a photographer is ready to capture anything. So enjoy the perfect moment. And with the help of the Zhumell Professional Tripod, capture it so the rest of us can enjoy it, too!

My Zhumell 20x80's arrived "out of collimation". (In the real world things like this will happen once in a while). I was advised by Hayneedle staff that a replacement pair would be sent. I was also advised that there were adjustment screws on the binoculars. (The tech documentation from Zhumell did not mention these adjustments, but they are there, under the rubberized coating if you know where to look). Anyway I was able to adjust the collimation and these babies work great! These folks will do the right thing if you have a problem with the product. Good experience! Good binoculars. Advise getting the tripod for really good viewing. We use them for tracking objects in earth orbit for the collection of positional and photometric data.

The best thing about these binoculars the great price, so great that I decided to take a chance and get a pair...One thing I really DO like is the objective covers, they fit well, and have little "ears" that allow them to be removed easily. The eyepiece cover, on the other hand, is very loose (not usable). Also, while it is not the BEST solution, I was happy that the "Super Giants" came with a case at all; for the price, you might not expect to get any "extras."One "extra" they should have left out, however, was the lens cleaning cloth, I would avoid using this cloth, as it leaves a lot of lint, and it's also not particularly soft.Overall they have the makings of a decent instrument, but they need some help...The main problem I had was that I could not get the diopter to adjust so that both of my eyes had good focus at the same time (without my glasses on)... I bought these binoculars for astronomical observation. When you are viewing pinpoints of light, accurate focus is CRITICAL!Another Issue I had was that the center focus mechanism was somewhat flimsy (although better than some cheap Bushnell's I have), leading to an unacceptable shift in focus if you so much as touch the eyepieces with your face or glasses.Furthermore, although this website claims that these "Super Giants" are fully Multi-Coated, I can say for certain that they are not... The coatings on the objective and eyepiece lenses have the tell-tale faint blue reflection indicating a single layer coating. Moreover, internal reflections while looking at bright objects at night are nothing short of SIGNIFICANT. This suggests that the prisms may be completely uncoated.Because of the shortcomings of this pair of binoculars, I would NOT recommend they be used for astronomy, as it seem this is simply too demanding of an application. The price redeems them somewhat, and for watching wildlife or long range observation of other terrestrial targets, they will do the trick... The 80mm objectives will give better low-light performance than other binoculars, and for the money, you just can't touch anything else this big. Finally, keep in mind that at 20x magnification, they will be almost useless to you unless you mount them on a tripodIn contrast to the binoculars themselves, [...]

I bought these for viewing the bay from the deck at cape cod. The tripod mount is sturdy and allows stable viewing. Good quality, especially for the low price. However I was trying and hoping ft greater power magnification. These are the same as my handheld binoculars.

I tried out the binoculars the first night upon receipt. Wow, lots of stars up there, even in the city. This is my first pair of celestial binocs but looks to be a great adventure. My grandsons will grow into them soon enough; we'll all see so much more of the night sky. Excellent, sturdy tripod, too.

Comments about Zhumell 20x80mm SuperGiant Astronomy Binoculars Package:

I read the reviews where several expressed frustration that the binoculars arrived out of collimination, others stated that there is double vision and the inability to resolve a star to a single point. I think I have an answer to this issue. When mine first arrived, I looked through them and saw double just like the others. However, I finally discovered and after some experimenting that they are fine. It's important to find the right inter-occular distance as well as adjusting the diopter before each viewing. Finally, after some usage, you will find the "sweet spot" where you position your eyes just right to see. As this instrument is midway between binoculars and telescopes, it's unfair to think you can just put them up to your eyes and start viewing-preparation and setup is required.
