The Celestron 15x70 SkyMaster binoculars include a tripod adapter for fixing the binocular to any standard photo tripod. To install tripod adapter simply un-thread the logo cap in front of the focus knob on the front of the binocular. This will reveal a female thread to install the tripod adapter. Then simply connect the binocular to your tripod for ultra stable viewing.
Ideal for stargazing.... but also excellent for daytime use
The 15x70 SkyMaster is excellent for night time stargazing and lunar viewing but also shine for long-distant terrestrial applications. Point the binocular at scenic mountain ranges or view ships out on the water for amazing views at 15x magnification.

I purchased a pair of these back in March to assist in locating Deep Sky objects. I was amazed at the views these binos provide, especially at the price. I do not have a problem with the weight and have devised a few methods that make scanning the skies quite comfortable for extended periods of time....without a tripod. A tripod would have made these useless to me as I already own a pair of Zhummell 25x100 Binos. Now those are heavy. I have accumulated a nice arsenal of gear over the past couple of years including an 8 and 10 inch Dob, ETX 125,Stellarvue 80mm Refractor and tons of accessories and after spending all that cash (thousands by now), The [$] I spent on these was loose change......and they have to be the best money and value I have spent on this hobby so far. I like them so much, I bought a second pair (I don't like to share these) for the wife and guests. They are a constant companion when stargazing and are usually around my neck. I even added a red dot finder to my pair to make locating DSO's easier. All in all a great value and great companion for whichever scope I use. Considering the 25x70 as well....just to have! This hobby is like a boat, except the hole is in the sky...lol and the funny thing is, I don't mind. I highly recommend these to anyone looking for bigger aperature and magnification and don't mind the small sacrifices that entails, such as added weight and unstable views. If you want rock solid, buy a tripod or a set of 10x50. But for quick scans and as an aid in locating DSO's, these are among the best available for a reasonable price. Nice job Celestron

But no instructions were contained (I don't know if there are supposed to be any, although binoculars are no-brainers to operate properly).BUT the collimation was very wrong(!), causing double images (yes, of course I first adjusted the interpupillary distance, which for me is approx 63mm). Rather than go through the hassle & shipping cost of returning/exchanging, I learned how to collimate the binoculars (while at the same time preserving the exit pupil shape as best as possible). I found that the prism adjustment screws weren't even adjusted. Once collimated, the binoculars give nice views (Orion nebula, for example).Not sure what to say - I didn't expect perfection at this price point (<[$]), but I did expect aligned optics. Bottom line is that the Sky Master 15x70 binoculars are nice for the price, but you need to personally try one to ensure it's properly assembled/adjusted. Whether this means that the only way to ensure a good binocular is to buy at a local store vs internet, I don't know. I think one needs to consider internet ordering of precision optical products with a common sense approach, being prepared to deal with possible irritants.

Binoculars very good quality, easy to focus, excellent value. Shipping was fast and received in perfect condition. Needs a better mounting system for a tripod. Have a lot of side to side vibration when using the single point tripod mount. (not a tripod problem). Also I have never had a pair of binos where the lens caps stayed on. These are no exceptions on both ends.

Got these binocs, works great when properly collimated im sure but from what I hear they hardly ever come that way. Tried fixing them myself but the screw to adjust the collimation was so tight small and difficult to reach I eneded up just stripping the screw. Returning for a different pair.

A: They are quite a bit larger. The chambers are longer and wider. This one is recommended to be used with a tripod.
