Comments about Leica D-LUX 6 Digital Camera:
Sure, we all want a Leica M with gobs of gorgeous German glass, but you gotta start somewhere and the D-Lux 6 is a very good place to start for aspiring street photographers. The DL6 is small and discrete (w/a bit of gaffer tape on that very bright red Leica dot) and can capture street scenes without drawing a lot of attention. Lots of bright bits to play with, but you'll do well to stick with the two monochrome settings for street work. The manual aperture ring makes it easy to "f8 and be there" with great results. The pretty bells and whistles are there if you're shooting the DC Cherry Blossoms, a Chinatown parade or making a homemade Xmas card. Sharpen your licks with the monochrome settings while you save your Euros for the magnificent M Monochrome.
